Kernel Magazine runs on submissions from creators like you. We want to see work filled with passion and conviction that speaks on our themes of love as power and care as resistance. We want art that calls for community support and writing about revolutionary joy. Send us your best and we promise to get back to you.
We are looking for:
- Visual Art (cap: 1-5 pieces)
- Comics (cap: 6 pages)
- Poetry (cap: 1-3 pieces)
- Fiction (cap: 3k words)
- Illustrated How-Tos (cap: 4 pages)
- Essays (cap: 3k words)
- Articles & Interviews (cap: 3k words)

How can tenderness disarm violence?
How can kindness be used to subvert the norms of cruelty?
How does a community under siege strengthen itself?
What skills do you have that others can rely on?
How do you love when it's easier to hate?

The use of generative AI in submitted work is strictly prohibited.
No exceptions.
You may submit multiple submissions, but each contributor may only be accepted once per issue, so choose wisely.
We are only accepting works in English. If you are submitting a translation, please credit the translator as well as the author.
We only accept work that has not been previously published (for writing, that includes posting on social media or blogging platforms, with the exception of excerpts of longform pieces.)
We accept simultaneous submissions, but please inform us right away if your work is accepted elsewhere.
